This beautiful stained glass mirror has been hand decorated using the   ‘copper foil’ technique

Why is it called the ‘Copper Foil’ Technique:

The Copper Foil Technique was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 20th Centaury working in New York.  The Copper Foil tape is stuck over the edges of the glass edges; the pieces are placed together and then a solder seam is applied.  This may have been left with its original silver colour or a patina applied to colour it.
